The Champlain Valley Quilters' Guild of New York was founded in 1984.
There are currently over 160 members.
Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month (September - June) at the Senior Center, 5139 North Catherine St., Plattsburgh, New York. Map to 5139 North Catherine St.

Membership

$20.00 Annual membership fee (September - August). 2009-2010 Membership Form. Payment can be made at the monthly meeting or sent to the Chair of the Membership Committee: Linda Maltzan, P.O. Box 455, Lewis, NY 12950. Checks should be made out to: Champlain Valley Quilters' Guild.
Membership cards are distributed at the September meeting, if you are unable to attend and wish to receive your membership card, include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope along with your payment.

We are going Green (both environmentally and economically).

Members are now being asked to bring their own beverages to meetings.
This will save money for the guild as well as reduce the amount of plastic waste from throwing away all those plastic cups. We encourage members to make use of reusable containers!
As part of the new membership form you will be asked if you want a paper copy of the newsletter. The newsletter will be posted on this site and an e-mail will go out when the latest edition is available. Read it online and only print the pages you want. This will help reduce the cost of printing and postage. Plus the online edition is in color!

Guild Activities

Monthly newsletter (Carolyn Tyndall) - The guild produces a monthly newsletter (no newsletters in July and August).

Block of the Month (Kerry Mero) - Block of the Month (BOM) projects are available for purchase at the guild meetings, instructions are in the newsletter. Members are encouraged to return competed blocks the next month for a raffle of blocks.

Show and Tell - All members are encouraged to bring show and tell items to the guild meetings.

Guild Library (Jean Welch) - The guild library has a collection of over 400 quilting books and patterns available to guild members at the monthly meetings. Members can check out up to 3 books a month, 5 books during the summer break (July-Aug). All materials must be returned the following month. There is a $1 late fee for all overdue items.

Challenge Project (Pat Flath) - Each year a new challenge project is offered to the guild.

Classes/Workshops (Kathy Russell) - A variety of classes and workshops are offered. Check the Class/Workshops page for details on current and upcoming class. Evening, 3-hour classes are $10, full-day classes are $18. If you are interested in teaching a class or have ideas for a class or workshop you would like to see offered contact Kathy Russell.

Community Outreach (Sue Minnie) - The committee coordinates the collection of quilts and other items for distribution to a variety of groups, causes and service agencies including the Cancer Center, nursing homes, women's shelters, and international aid groups.
