Community Service Sew-A-Thon
April 26, 2008
We had such a good turn out for the sew-a-thon that we needed to take 2 different group pictures.

The Brown Bag Challenge of 2007-2008!
The Brown Bag Challenge asked quilters to put 5 fat quarters in a brown bag. The bags were re-distributed to other brown bag quilters who then had make something with them. The rules said that each of the given fabrics should be used (no minimum) and that additional fabrics could be added.
Along with quilts, wall hangings, table runners and placemats were a 'Quilt' sign (with lights), several different types of bags, a clock, a snail-mail holder, an apron and a casserole carrier.
A big 'Thank You' to Kitty for coordinating the challenge and for all who participated. As you can see it is an impressive collection of projects.

On March 12, 2008 Debbie Wendt visited the guild and presented a talk on Egyptian textiles and crafts. She brought with her several samples including the impressive 'tent maker' panel pictured below. It is hand appliquéd.
On March 13, 2008 Debbie gave a workshop based on the book Quick Quilts from Fat Quarters in which Debbie's quilt pictured below is included. The workshop and book focus on a cutting plan that allows for a wide variety of blocks to be made, yet all will still work together.
Thank you to all who made and donated ornaments and to those who showed up to help decorate the Guild's Christmas Tree for the Clinton County ARC's Christmas Tree Raffle.

On June 14, 2007 Nancy Davis Murdy taught a workshop for the guild - with beautiful and creative results. Everyone promises to bring their project to show and tell in September.
Thanks to all who came and joined us for the community service sew-a-thon on April 28, 2007!
