The 2008-2009 "Name that Song" Challenge
All participants selected a favorite song or piece of music as the theme and name for their quilt.
All projects had to include some of the challenge fabric (black with colorful music notes) on the front of the quilt.

Last Baby of the Year- 2008
We all know that the first baby of the new year gets lots of attention, so this past year the guild decided to honor the last baby of the year
by providing baskets with baby supplies and of course a baby quilt. A basket was provided to 3 area hospitals.

Below is a photo of the family that received the
CVPH last baby of the year basket.
They had a baby boy named Elliot.

Below is a photo of the baby that received the
Saranac Lake last baby of the year basket.
His name is Trey.

Community Service Sew-A-Thon
April 26, 2008

We had such a good turn out for the sew-a-thon that we needed to take 2 different group pictures.

On March 12, 2008 Debbie Wendt visited the guild and presented a talk on Egyptian textiles and crafts. She brought with her several samples including the impressive 'tent maker' panel pictured below. It is hand appliquéd.

On March 13, 2008 Debbie gave a workshop based on the book Quick Quilts from Fat Quarters in which Debbie's quilt pictured below is included. The workshop and book focus on a cutting plan that allows for a wide variety of blocks to be made, yet all will still work together.
